Tyler Joseph’s latest album is called TUBE ALLEY. The 18-song long album is out now via Jagjaguwar. Let’s get into it.<\/p>\n
The album opener, “Know What I Am”, starts off with a crazy intro. It builds into an insane dream pop stomp. “You Were Always Here” kicks off with a huge rock track. With groovey drum grooves, a stomping bassline and a solid vocal, this song is one of the most anthemic of the album. Another great track is “Mall”. It has a very British pop sound. The lyrics on this song are very simple and not even really necessary to understand the song. “I Don’t Know” is one of the stand-out tracks. It’s hard to explain what kind of pop this is. It’s a distorted garage beat with an ultra-clean vocal. The guitar riff in the intro of this song has got to be one of the best guitar riffs of the last couple of years. It soars, it sways, and it dances. “Sorcery” is one of the more raw tracks on the album. It starts off slowly with a really interesting vocal that is slow and tense with a lot of thoughtfulness in it. The bass is much more instrumental for this song. Very, very deep. If you like something like Godspeed You! Black Emperor or PJ Harvey, this is for you. It’s like what they could do with South Of Heaven. “The World That You Want” is a beautiful, magical song that starts off with tribal drums and a monstrous bass riff. After a few seconds of the majestic guitar parts, it drops into an epic, highly melodic chorus that’s a few seconds too long, but it’s still totally awesome. It’s a contrast
