    All of this raises important questions about the crisis we face today. What were the warning signs that were ignored? What role does the U.S. military have in making and selling weapons of war? Who and what did the right and left corrupt when their view of the relation of weapons and war-waging power failed to fit the obvious?<\/p>\n

    The political history of the Vietnam era and Iraq now, combined with the current U.S. military and political commitment to whitewash police-state style 9\/11 probes, all limit what is known about those who carried out the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon. Yet without exposing these people and their political goals, we face a continuous cycle of fear that doesn’t even ask who sold us our weapons and why.<\/p>\n

    At this point, the ghosts of the 1970s seep through to our ears and terrify us with the possibility of another Bosnia or Rwanda. But they’re not ghosts, and there is no reason for Americans not to hear them.<\/p>\n
