The sister drove away in a 1989 Nissan Stanza, parked at the corner of
\nLakehaven and Owensweep. Authorities say the driver of that car was never
\ncaught.
\nThe bodies of the three young men were found about 5:30 p.m. in the
\nfoggy area around Lakehaven Road and Owensweep Drive.
\nPolice said it appeared the bodies had been there for some time. But
\nbecause of the fog, they were only able to move them with the help of a
\nrecreational vehicle pulled by a tractor.
\nOfficials identified the young men as Joseph P. Colarossi Jr., 22, of
\nJamestown, and Peter C. Toth and James E. Toth, both 18, of Jamestown.
\nPolice said the car was recovered Wednesday morning in the area of
\nRegent and Walker roads in Jamestown.
\nThe investigation was continuing Wednesday at a boat launch near
\nJamestown.
\nBecause of the cold temperatures, the bodies of the young men were
\ntransported to the County Medical Examiner’s Office in Albany to await
\nautopsies.
\nPolice had no immediate comment about any suspects.
\nA neighbor of the victims told the Times Union that Colarossi and the
\nToths were “honest, kindhearted and very good-natured young men.”
\nThe neighbor, Laura Olick, said they were just starting a new life
\nafter moving into a condominium in February.
\nShe said the father of one of the boys was a United States Army
\nveteran who had returned from Iraq about three months ago.
\n“It’s just tragic. That’s all I can say,” Olick said.
\n“It’s unbelievable, and we’re just trying to deal with this tragedy,”
\nColarossi’s sister, Sandra DiPietro, told The Times Union. “He had a
\nvery good future.”
\nThe police officer who responded to the scene was identified by The
\nTimes Union as Jamestown Police Officer Tim Anderson, who said he
\nhasn’t been able to talk to his family.
\n“They’re in shock,” he told The Times Union.
\nThe officer said he did not know if the bodies were found in the fog or
\nif the fog was a factor in their discovery. He said the bodies were
\nreceiving a full autopsy as of Wednesday afternoon.
\nThe Jamestown police were assisted at the scene by the Troy Police
\nDepartment<\/p>\n
