Adobe Illustrator<\/p>\n
Adobe Illustrator is a vector-based program for designing and editing shapes. Adobe Illustrator can be used in lieu of Photoshop. Note that not all functions performed by Photoshop are available in Illustrator. The program does have some vector capabilities, but you won’t be able to create any vector artwork in Illustrator. In addition, you can’t open anything created in Illustrator in Photoshop. To convert a Photoshop file to Illustrator, save the file as a PDF and import it into Illustrator as a PDF. You can find more information on Illustrator in the upcoming Graphics programs chapter.<\/p>\n
In addition to vector features, Adobe Illustrator also has some raster (bitmap) features, including the ability to create, edit, and save bitmap images. It’s not common to work in this program, as it can’t provide any of the raster editing features of Photoshop and serves primarily as a design program.<\/p>\n
Adobe InDesign<\/p>\n
Adobe InDesign is a high-end page layout application that creates print-ready documents. It doesn’t import or export vector files. You can use the tools of the other graphics programs to manage InDesign pages, or you can go online and upload the files. InDesign was originally created for professional print companies, but now has a growing business user community.<\/p>\n
Adobe InDesign can be used to create brochures, print catalogs, or flyers, and design more complex projects that aren’t possible with the other Adobe programs, such as a book.<\/p>\n
Figure 1-7 shows an example of a brochure created in Adobe InDesign.<\/p>\n

Photo-Paint is a drawing program that’s been around for years, and is typically used by kids and artists. It’s available at `www.adobe.com\/products\/photopaint.html`.<\/p>\n
Painter is another old-school drawing program and may be more intuitive than Photoshop for beginners. It’s available at `<\/p>\n
PaintShop Pro, available at `www.adobe.com\/products\/<\/p>\n

If you use Photoshop and work with photos, there are some Photoshop features that could be very handy to you.<\/p>\n

1 \u2013 Importing and Exporting<\/p>\n

One of the most important features when you work on a photo in Photoshop is to make it look good. You do this through the process of adjusting, selecting, cropping, retouching, etc.<\/p>\n
You can easily import images in all types of formats, including tiff, jpeg, gif, and raw. You can also open images from online resources.<\/p>\n
Once imported, it\u2019s possible to modify the properties of the photo with the commands of the panel, and then save it with new default settings.<\/p>\n
Image Export<\/p>\n
Once you save your photo and make a backup of it in the same folder, it will be available for use in other projects.<\/p>\n
In most cases, you can export the photo to a variety of formats, including tiff, jpeg, pdf, png and more.<\/p>\n
2 \u2013 Adjustments, Adjustments and Filters<\/p>\n

The Adjustments panel contains many photographic and creative effects.<\/p>\n
Adobe Photoshop provides many different adjustments, including Distortion, Brightness\/Contrast, Shadow, Spot Removal, etc. You can also add and remove artifacts such as Red Eye Removal, Noise Reduction, etc.<\/p>\n
It is possible to perform adjustments in different ways. For example, some adjustments are performed on a specific area of \u200b\u200bthe photo. For example, the Crop tool. You can use the Crop tool to crop the photo just before saving it in the other formats.<\/p>\n

Filters is a set of modules designed to alter specific photos. Filters are often created by the developers of specific modules. Some of them are free, and others are paid.<\/p>\n
