What is a good way to handle SQLite exceptions like connection problems

I’m using SQLite to store data in a simple android application. I’m using the android Support Library and the sqlite apis from Support Library. So far, I’m using onCreate() to open the database and the method.openDatabase() to open the DB.

The problem is, when you call.openDatabase() on an already created DB, you get an IllegalStateException. How can I handle this exception correctly and how should I handle this issue in general?

A:

Check the retval of the method. If it’s -1, you have an exception.
