This product is the fifth in the series of 5E adventures written by Steve Winter for Primeval Thule, but Red Chains is the first in our five part series of short adventures. Based in the Primeval Thule setting, it is set in the city of Marg, a relatively small settlement in the south of the continent of Thule.
Perilous Horrors in a Hidden Jungle Temple!
The vile practice of slavery casts a shadow over all of Thule. In Red Chains, the characters must travel to the city of Marg, home base of the Crimson Slavers who terrorize much of the continent. Their quest is simple: Rescue the son of an important chieftain from the clutches of Marg’s slavers. But in their effort to free the young barbarian from his captors, the heroes and the trail leading them into a cruel, twisted realm of human bondage, underground cults, and dark rituals.
The villains are often ruthless and well-armed. Surviving them means learning their tactical abilities, their arcane foes, and their trade-craft. This requires clever and diplomatic tactics, and a good understanding of the villain’s goals. It is a dangerous endeavour.
Red Chains is a short adventure for 4th to 6th level characters, but because it is relatively light on combat, it can easily be modified for characters of any level. It is set in the Primeval Thule campaign setting, and written by long-time RPG designer Steve Winter. This adventure was written as part of the Primeval Thule 5e kickstarter campaign, and is now available for purchase for your 5e Thule game!
Red Chains is open to both melee and non-combat characters. It is also open to players who would prefer to play characters with different play styles, for example, if they wish to play a ranged build, or a melee build. The characters in this short adventure range from low level to high level, but all are able to make use of many of the excellent powers and abilities available to Primeval Thule characters.
As always, the adventures and sourcebooks in the Primeval Thule line of products are not intended as a replacement for the 1e, 2e, 3e or 4e books, nor are they meant to be a separate collection of rules and background in their own right. They are designed to provide extensive play support for characters who want to live in the Primeval Thule world.
