Installing NetHelp
The installer installs a binary and configuration file for NetHelp and the associated software provided by NetHelp, so it should be installed on a server with administrative rights.

If you use the default folder, NetHelp will create an Application under the Control Panel applet Administration Tools and add the NetHelp executable and NETMAIL configuration file to the list of startup programs.
After the NetHelp Setup is complete, you can run it by clicking on the NetHelp shortcut in the start menu.
You can change the default NetHelp shortcut to point to the administrator version, by adding the following registry value:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
Go to “Properties” and set the value to the administrator version of NetHelp (x64 or x86).
Install and Run NetHelp
NetHelp allows you to configure parameters such as the help topic name, the help server, the global keyboard shortcut and many others.
You can find all these options and more in the Options dialog after installing NetHelp.
Run the help application and click on the help topic you want to run.

NetHelp provides help in eight languages: English, Japanese, Korean, French, German, Spanish, Russian and Chinese.
But if you want a specific language, you can disable the option to change languages, by clicking on the NetHelp Help Settings from the main menu.

Basic installation:
NetHelp can be installed on any Windows 95/98/Me/2000/XP-based computer, following the installation instructions included in the HelpViewers archive provided with this software. To start the NetHelp service, the user is supposed to create a new service with the command:
nethelpviewer -d “server IP -port number”
where:
server is the address or the name of the computer where the NetHelp service is to be running.
port is the number of port that is to be opened. This number should be the same as the port number used for the HTTP server.

NetHelp requires the.NET Framework to be installed to be able to run. Although there is no specific requirement, it should be enough to install the.NET Framework from Microsoft Website:

NetHelp runs on your own computer and is able to provide users with network remote console and remote (terminal) access to the computer. NetHelp works with any text-based user interface.
How It Works
1. The NetHelp server requires a username and a password to be provided. The server remains online all the time, unless the administrator provides the option to disable it.
2. The server downloads the user’s configuration information from a predefined file.

The port number on the server to which all connections must be made. Default is 4444.

session_interval
This parameter is the time interval between reconnections to the session.
source_domain_name
This parameter is the DNS hostname of the server.
target_domain_name
This parameter is the DNS hostname of the computer that will be provided remote access.
